So here I’m, trying a blog meme that’s really popular, although it’s mostly being used with book releases, and I’m going to do it including TV shows and movies too.

Today I have 3 new shows that start soon, all with links to their respective pages.

Britannia (Jan. 18) –

A fantasy historical period drama produced by Amazon Prime Video and Sky. All ten episodes will be available on launch, so maybe I’ll try to kind of binge it.

Set in 43 AD, the captivating, anarchic drama follows the Roman army as they return to crush the Celtic heart of Britannia, a mysterious land led by warrior women and powerful Druids who claim to channel the powerful forces of the underworld.

Counterpart (Jan. 21) –

Usually I have some reluctance to be hyped by this kind of show, because it’s rare that the result is something really cool. But Starz have a good history of releasing good shows, so I’m giving them the benefit of doubt.

Two 10 episode seasons are already confirmed, and although the first episode already aired on December 10, the official series premiere is January 21.

An espionage thriller, with a metaphysical twist, Counterpart tells the story of Howard Silk (Simmons), a lowly cog in a bureaucratic UN agency who is turning the last corner of a life filled with regret, when he discovers the agency he works for is guarding a secret: a crossing to a parallel dimension. Through Howard and his “counterpart” on the other side, the show will navigate themes of identity, idealism, what ifs, and lost love.

The Alienist (Jan. 22) –

Alright, a book adaptation with Dakota Fanning? Count me in. The trailer looks very interesting, and it’s going to be only 10 episodes long. Hooray!

Crime reporter, John Moore, meets with psychologist, Dr. Laszlo Kreizler, to investigate a serial killer in New York during the late 19th century.
