A bit late to the party, but here I am with my thoughts on The Rising of The Shield Hero (Tate no Yuusha no Nariagari) episode 2. I already mentioned that I’m not good at doing reviews, but let’s try a different format then (doing like Matt from QandAAnime). As they are my thoughts on the episode, there will be some spoilers, of course. As a bonus, I added some comments from Reddit.
So, what’s this episode about? Well, ShieldBro chooses his slave: Raphtalia, a cute racoon demi-human with PTSD. Then they go on
great adventures and lived happily ever after to kill some orange balloon-things and try to survive and level up.
best-girl Raphtalia? She is SO freaking cute. But story wise, she’s hurt, sick and, well, a slave that can’t even run away because she has a magic pact. She HAS to obey orders. Still, ShieldBro treats her well, so it could be worse, seeing how other slaves and demi-humans are treated. And she met her childhood hero.
Was the episode good? YES. The first episode was good, but kinda hard, and on this one things start to improve, even if a little bit, for both Naofumi and Raphtalia. That made the episode more pleasant to watch.
Best girl so far? There only one, so… Racoon-girl? Yeah, I’m not considering the ones from episode 1. They suck.
Best moments? 1 – ShieldBro being a bro a buying expensive food for her, while eating the cheapest plate. 2 – Killing the dog together.
