Disenchantment is a Netflix Original created by Matt Groening, the man behind The Simpsons and Futurama. While the previous shows are contemporary and futuristic, Disenchantment takes us to a wacky medieval fantasy.

If you are familiar with The Simpsons and Futurama (really, who aren’t), you may know what to expect, and that’s not a bad thing at all. I mean, despite how much we like The Simpsons, at some point it starts getting repetitive and we get saturated with so much of the same characters.

The three main characters are cool: Bean, Luci and Elfo are responsible for many laughs, and many other characters add cool moments to the show. The art style is similar to what we are already used to, but a bit improved, and OMG the opening song is SO cool. Loved how they had a more funky soundtrack to a medieval fantasy.

The story is intriguing and fun enough to watch. It starts slow, but it builds to something really cool at the end.

Disenchantment clapping

At least for me, Disenchantment was a great way of getting more of Groening’s humor but with fresh new characters and story. In addition, being a story-arc narrative instead of episodic show adds the strength needed to make us want to binge it on Netflix and at the end, it leaves us wanting more. Go watch it on Netflix right now and you won’t regret it.
